Winter Relief Drive: Bringing Warmth and Hope to Community Schools
As part of the Winter Relief Drive, Social Lab, in partnership with Madec Australia and Samsara, brought warmth and smiles to 153 students across three community schools: Shree Jay Saraswoti Basic School in Mandandeupur, Shree Khaireni Basic School in Khaireni, and Shree Chandeshwori Basic School in Pyutaar.
These schools serve students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom belong to indigenous ethnic communities. Despite being just a few hours away from Kathmandu, these schools struggle with limited resources, making it challenging to provide quality education.
Reaching these communities is no easy feat. For instance, the journey to Pyutaar involves navigating narrow, gravel-filled roads that are both difficult and dangerous. Yet, the effort is always worth it when it means making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. Beyond the immediate impact, initiatives like these also serve as a call to action, urging the government to step in and address the systemic challenges faced by such schools.

The distribution event was held in the presence of local government officials, parents, and members of the School Management Committee (SMC). The warm tracksuits provided are more than just winter gear—they are a means to ensure students stay comfortable during the harsh winter months, encouraging better attendance and fostering a more conducive learning environment.
This initiative is a small but meaningful step toward supporting these students, not only in their education but also in their overall well-being. It’s a reminder that even in the face of adversity, collective efforts can bring warmth, hope, and a brighter future.
